Do something crazy

Can’t find someone to sponsor or maybe there’s a certain challenge you’ve been meaning to complete.  Well that sounds likes the perfect excuse to do something a little crazy For Lucie.  Be it a 5k fun run, a full blow marathon or a mammoth bike ride it’s a great way to raise funds and awareness.  Thanks to the guys at Just Giving it’s as easy as falling into a bath of beans.  Just click below and you’ll be raising funds before you can say Lands End to John O’Groats.

Your donations make a difference.  We use your money to maximise benefit to others.  In assessing how we use your money we have one simple test.  Did it, or would it, make a difference to Jon and Trish.  Below are some examples of where your hard earned money goes:

• £20 buys a teddy for a sibling to give to a lost loved one and one to keep.  Simple but effective a shared special bond and a farewell gift.
• £30 provides a “memory box”.  A keep sake box that allows families to collect and store some of those reminders of happier times.
• £300 for Blood sampling for research
• £500 provides training for medical staff on how to deal with bereaved families.  An opportunity to help those who help so many through difficult times.

Sometimes it feels like we get taxed for everything we do and most things we don’t.  However on this occasion the Tax Man is your friend.  By virtue of being a UK Tax payer we get an additional 25% which makes that donation go that much further.  All you have to do is to remember to tell us.  For sponsorship check the option on the form, for texts reply to initial thank you, and for one of donations just drop us a declaration.  For those on a higher tax rate there’s a further opportunity to reclaim  more tax.  Don’t be shy.

We work closely with the Child Bereavement Team at Nottingham Children’s Hospital.  The team’s made up of two great individuals Jackie Browne and Alison Rushton.  The work they do makes a real difference to those families suffering the loss of a child or baby.  How do we know?  We know because we benefited from their help, support and advice after the loss of Lucie.

Put simply Jackie and Alison are stars.  They’re the team of two who support families grieving the loss of a baby or child.  Whilst no one can take the pain of loosing a loved one away through their work they help to create some good memories of a difficult time.

One area they try and help is by the creation of keep sakes, for example taking foot and hand prints of loved ones for parents like this one of Lucie’s.
